Monday, May 23, 2022  Today was a major day for my senior project: I achieved the hour requirement and completed my concentration. I started this morning by attending the anatomy and physiology class. After last week's presentation, the class suggested they make pamphlet-style brochures of my research. Therefore, I worked with the class today to create their project. Later, in the afternoon, I had my exit review for my STEM concentration. This exit review marked the conclusion of my concentration and completion of every task on the checklist. Looking back at all of the hours I have put into completing the various tasks of the concentration program, I am proud of what I have accomplished. It feels a bit strange to not have any further work to complete, but I am enjoying how rewarding it was!  Today’s Hours: 4  Total Hours: 56

Week 2 Reflection

I can not believe that another week of senior project has passed. Looking back on the past two weeks, I am able to witness the extent of what I have completed. Prior to senior project, I was concerned with the amount of work I left to complete. Utilizing my time management skills allowed me to complete the elements of my concentration that were still unfinished in a timely manner. Starting this week, I began the revision process of my essay. Since this essay is fifteen pages long, editing was a time-consuming task. Over the course of a few days, I produced the final draft of my essay, which I am very proud of. Additionally, this week I completed the public demonstration for my concentration. Presenting to both the anatomy and physiology class, as well as the sports medicine class was a very rewarding experience. Having students be inquisitive about my research, reassured me of the importance of the work I completed. The students in the anatomy and physiology class we...

Friday, May 20, 2022  This morning, I presented my research to the anatomy and physiology class. Teaching the students in the class about my studies of the correlation between female anatomy and athletic injury was extremely rewarding. After my presentation, there were a plethora of questions asked sparking an extended discussion regarding my concentration and the research I conducted. This conversation initiated the class to suggest that they construct a pamphlet of my research to educate others. I look forward to another presentation tomorrow morning to the sports medicine class! Hopefully, it goes as well as today.  Today’s Hours: 5  Total Hours: 52

Thursday, May 19, 2022  Today was unlike any other day of senior project: I did not work in the library with Katherine and Nora. Instead, I decided to work at home, as a change of scenery was necessary. Yesterday, I completed a draft of my presentation for my public demonstration. Therefore, today was spent making final touches and practicing the way in which I will present my research. I have come to realize that over the past year I have read an astonishing number of articles, concluding with an intense amount of research gathered. Throughout the day as I practiced my presentation, I homed in on which information is the most vital to share. My main goal for this presentation is to inform the audience while maintaining a level of engagement. After many rehearsals and fine-tuning my slideshow, I am now ready to present to the anatomy and physiology class tomorrow! Today’s Hours: 5  Total Hours: 47

Wednesday, May 18, 2022  After completing my annotated bibliography, I began working on my presentation for the public demonstration aspect of the concentration program. As previously mentioned in other blog posts, I plan to present my research to the anatomy and physiology class as well as the sports medicine class. I believe that my concentration, studying the correlation between female anatomy and athletic injury, is a topic that can be addressed in both of those two classes. As I began the slideshow, it was extremely difficult to limit myself, as I could talk about my research endlessly. Therefore, I spent the majority of my time today solely figuring out the most important information for my presentation and how to address each topic in an engaging manner for the audience. By the end of the day, I completed a draft of my presentation that I look forward to sharing!  Today’s Hours: 5  Total Hours: 43

Tuesday, May 17, 2022  Today was an exciting day in terms of my concentration, as I have started to see the culmination of my work. After spending time editing, I began adding my sources to the annotated bibliography. This process consisted of making citations as well as writing why each source was reliable, what information I gained from it, and how the articles were implemented into my essay. After many hours, I completed my annotated bibliography, allowing me to begin my presentation for the public demonstration element of my concentration. For my public demonstration, I will be presenting to the anatomy and physiology class on Friday and the sports medicine class on Saturday. I look forward to sharing my research.  Today’s Hours: 6  Total Hours: 38
