Week 2 Reflection

I can not believe that another week of senior project has passed. Looking back on the past two weeks, I am able to witness the extent of what I have completed. Prior to senior project, I was concerned with the amount of work I left to complete. Utilizing my time management skills allowed me to complete the elements of my concentration that were still unfinished in a timely manner. Starting this week, I began the revision process of my essay. Since this essay is fifteen pages long, editing was a time-consuming task. Over the course of a few days, I produced the final draft of my essay, which I am very proud of. Additionally, this week I completed the public demonstration for my concentration. Presenting to both the anatomy and physiology class, as well as the sports medicine class was a very rewarding experience. Having students be inquisitive about my research, reassured me of the importance of the work I completed. The students in the anatomy and physiology class were so engaged with my presentation that they suggested they make pamphlet-style brochures of my research to educate the greater community. Therefore, I will be working with this class tomorrow to create their final project: the pamphlets.

In general, the concentration program has allowed me to solidify my desire to pursue medical studies in the future. The research that I was able to do, has taught me a lot about myself as a female athlete and what I can do to mitigate my susceptibility to injury.  Being a student who thrives in an experiential learning environment, I found the concentration program to be exactly how I enjoy learning. Therefore, in the future, I hope to pursue research-style studies that allow me to interact with the subject matter I am focusing on.
